K-BEAUTY SKIN CARE ROUTINE
Oil or water cleansers are an essential step for all skin types. They remove oil-based debris such as makeup, sebum, and soot.
To truly remove ALL makeup, reach for an oil cleanser. Massage it over your dry face and neck to break up makeup and then add splash of lukewarm water to emulsify the cleanser. Massage again and then rinse everything off!
Korean women typically use two cleansers, starting with an oil-based cleanser to remove oil-based makeup, SPF and other impurities (since water repels oil). This allows for effortless cleansing rather than tugging at your skin to remove that last bit of mascara.
This is the second part of the double cleanse, which is necessary to thoroughly clean your skin at the end of the day. Foaming cleansers remove water-based debris such as sweat and dirt.
It’s called clean & cleansing for a reason. Wash your face with a water-based cleanser to whisk away any remaining residue and impurities from your oil cleanse. The key is to find a gentle formula that won’t strip or dry out your skin.
Not to be used daily, exfoliating renews your skin by scrubbing away dead skin cells.
The next step is exfoliation, which removes dead skin cells to give the skin a brighter, smoother, and more even-toned appearance.
Keep in mind that exfoliating at least twice a week is crucial for clear, polished skin. Sloughing off dead skin cells makes it possible for the rest of your skin care products to mingle with your pores and do their magic. Gently massage or tap an exfoliant into your skin for smooth and silky skin.
This softens, moisturizes, and preps your skin to better absorb the essences and serums to follow. It also resets your pH balance after using the cleansers.
A toner helps to balance the skin's PH levels after cleansing and helps skin retain moisture. In addition, a toner soothes and prepares the skin optimally for the further care steps.
These typically contain an active ingredient that optimizes your skin’s natural cell turnover rate—think skin regeneration.
The heart of the Korean skin routine. An essence is a hybrid between a toner and a serum. It works perfectly to hydrate the complexion, aiding cellular turnover for a fresh, youthful appearance.
This is a more concentrated version of an essence, usually thicker in consistency. Different serums can hyper-target skin issues and are meant to be layered.
Consider boosters, serums, and ampoules as concentrated essences that directly treat the issues you’re most concerned about. Whether they target dull skin, large pores, pigmentation, wrinkles, or acne, serums are the ideal skin-perfecting step. You can customise your regimen here, adding or removing products as you see fit. Gently tap these into your skin!
These are sometimes used in place of an essence.
The 15-20 minute exposure time allows your skin to absorb the natural ingredients of the mask much better than when applying a cream. TONYMOLY sheet mask are made to address different skin needs with their highly concentrated ingredients. This is meant to hydrate and protect the skin around your eyes.
The skin around the eyes is particularly sensitive and thin, making it particularly vulnerable to the first signs of aging. Therefore, it requires special care products with an extra portion of moisture which provide an intense protection against external influences. Eye creams are not rubbed in but gently tapped into the eye area. The ring finger is best suited for this because it is our weakest finger.
Apply this to intensely hydrate and restore firmness as you sleep.
Mists provide you with a quiet, meditative, and skin-nourishing ritual that imparts maximum treatment to your skin. Use one at least once or twice a week or every single day if you'd like.
